Donald Johnson is entering his 10th year as a Basketball Coach. He has guided 8 different teams to championship titles, claimed 4 Conference Championships in the San Gabriel Valley and Moore League. He has produced 19 first team all-state players. In 2007, Coach Johnson was honored as Oxnard Coach of the Year. Coach Don played his high school basketball in Compton California, at Dominguez high school alongside NBA players Tyson Chandler, Tayshaun Prince, Keion Kindred, Kenny Brunner, and Bobby Jones.
While in the U.S. Navy. Coach Don soon moved to Oxnard California where as head coach his teams compiled a 91-41 record including 2 championships at numerous tourneys through AAU and other major traveling teams. Because of Coach Johnson's commitment to the community, Donald Johnson was honored with the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
After his years in Oxnard, Coach Don accepted a part time position at Cal State Cuesta. His record at Cal State Cuesta was 18-4 and was awarded Assistant Coach of the Year. During this time Coach Don was the head coach of “The Posse” traveling team. This traveling team completed in the Double Pump's Best Buy Basketball Challenge Series which including two spring tournaments, one in Denver, the other in Las Vegas, as two summer tournaments, one of which is the Summer Classic in Bloomington, MN. The Best of the West Summer Tournament held in Los Angeles, which is the biggest stop in the AAU summer circuit. Coach Don Teams won championships in all tournaments with the exception of one which “The Posse” Came in a respectable third place at the City Of Palms tournament in Palm Beach Florida. His dedication to the students and to the college is equally outstanding.
